Wowzers.. I have been an extremely busy bear lately - so so sorry for the lack of posts and inspirational tips on the blog here at Elle Maverick Events. Today however, we have a little treat for you! I found the glorious Lola via social networking sites (how most wonderful working relationships bloom these days!) and just couldn't wait to introduce her to you..... With an individual and quirky style - Lola's wonderful flowers are quirky, cool and vibrant... perfect for any outdoor wedding. Rather than rambling on, I will let you meet the face behind 'Walnut and Willow'.. over to Lola! My name is Lola Holmes and my company is Walnut & Willow, a flower business specialising in weddings and events. My style is natural and timeless creating subtle statements with an artistic twist. I have been in the Florist industry for the past 4 years after graduating with a Fine Art degree. I have worked in 3 busy florist shops in the North and South of the country which has given me vast experience in every aspect of floristry. I also have a Foundation diploma in Professional Wedding planning & Event management from The Wedding Planner School, London which has given me an insight into all areas of the wedding and event industry. I mainly cover South Wales (from January) however do go further afield if required. I have weddings in Kent and Cirencester next year to give you an example. My boyfriend is a serving member of the British Army and so that massively influences the style of wedding we will have (one day!!) I can imagine having a wedding that is dominated with flowers in any area I could find, although not too over the top. I take a lot of inspiration for my weddings from different eras as I always think although I would want the day to be stunning, I would want to look back at my photographs and for them to look timeless. I love French, rustic mixed with hunter lodge style and so would probably go with this type of theme and not red, white and blue as most people would associate with military weddings. No wedding or event is too big or too small and no idea is too extravagant or too subtle. I love working with brides who have weird and wacky ideas and creating things outside of the box and I love a bride who is daring to be different. Parties and events are amazing to work for as they are normally for celebrations or milestones of someone's life or a company celebrating a number of years in business or celebrating by having Christmas parties. These are great fun to cater for as they normally want some statement flowers which is always amazing to be a part of. All of my work is bespoke to the customers requirements and each wedding or event is unique from the last and so prices are based on individual quotes. I love meeting my clients to get a better picture of who they are and what they are looking for as it helps me build up a greater understanding of their needs. T: 07805 397667

We love Twitter (follow us @maverickbrides) as we sometimes find the very best suppliers to present you with! This week, we have been talking to Sheree and Aoife at Cute Maps.. a quirky little company that designs illustrated maps for multiple purposes. Of course, in this instance.. they design WONDERFULLY creative maps for you to point your guests in the right direction of your big day. We had a chat with these lovely ladies, and here is what they had to say.... What are Cute Maps? Cute Maps are custom maps individually tailored to depict a whimsical visual story and lasting memory of that special day. Quirky and fun, as well as informative, wedding guests immediately share in the journey of each Bride and Groom from the moment their invitation lands at their door. Each map design is ‘Utterly Bespoke’ meaning we start with a blank canvas - all locations are chosen by the happy couple, be it their venues, where they met or where they were engaged. We’re always excited to improvise, but motifs can also be drawn to their requirements; previous customers have chosen pets, hobbies, flags, flowers, cars and even their favourite Gin! What products are available in the stationery range? The collection ranges from full stationery suites to simple postcards so there’s something to suit all tastes and budgets. Cute Maps offer Save the Dates & Invitations, all the way through to Menus, Favour Tags & Thank You Cards creating a memorable paper trail throughout the nuptials. And now this winter we introduce the Framed Cute Gift Map that guests can commission for the betrothed couple, or can be ordered as a memento. Cute Maps are available as: Save the Date Postcards & Magnets | Invitations & Folded Cards | Invitation Inserts | Tote Bags | Gift Maps Matching Stationery items available include: Info Cards | Menus | Favour Tags | Table Names | Save the Date Emails | Place Cards How did this idea come about? Director/Designer Sheree began making Cute Maps for herself and friends. The success of these led to the launch of www.cutemaps.co.uk with instant orders coming in from across the world. Sheree states ‘Every map is a new challenge. I love that we can receive an order from any location worldwide and yet the creation remains personal and local to the bride & groom’. Any plans for the future? We receive so many unusual design requests from customers which we’d love to eventually offer to all customers. At the moment we’re building a web page on Cute Map table plans. As well as simple matching table plans, we’ve previously created Road Trip, World Map and even Tube Map plans! We’re also expanding the matching stationery range to include Wedding Programs and a Tea Towel keepsake! Cute Maps are available at www.cutemaps.co.uk and at www.notonthehighstreet.com/cutemaps. View a small selection of maps at the online portfolio found on the website. Prices start at £98.00 for Design Only, £120 for x50 Standard Postcards, £200 for x50 Standard Folded Cards and £145 for x50 Save the Date Magnets.
